It’s Freddy vs. Nancy in a back-to-back double-feature of 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street and 1987’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors!
“One, two…Freddy’s coming for you…” In Wes Craven’s original slasher classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, Midwestern teenager Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) realizes that she and her friends are all having nightmares about the same disfigured madman in a green-and-red striped sweater. When she finds out that falling victim to his killer glove means dying in real life, Nancy and her boyfriend Glen (Johnny Depp) struggle to stay awake while Nancy does some investigating, leading to the shocking revelation that the killer, whose name is Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), has an interesting dark history with several of the community’s parents…
Following a short break between films we will present A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors! Easily the pinnacle of the film’s many sequels, this special-effects extravaganza stars Patricia Arquette as Kristen, a young girl struggling with nightmares about you-know-who. After a near-death nightmare leads her parents to believe she’s tried to commit suicide, Kristen is sent to a psychiatric ward, where she joins a group of similarly troubled teens who are also plagued with nightmares about Freddy. All hope seems lost, until they are introduced to the one person who believes them: Nancy! Now a sleep specialist, Nancy commits herself to help the teens, and they band together to rid the world of Freddy Krueger once and for all.
