A VERY “CARRIE” PROM – Presented by HorrorBuzz

May 28, 2018 @ 8:00 pm

Once upon a time, there was nothing scarier on prom night than the fear of getting an unfortunately-timed pimple.   Then Stephen King came along…

Join us on May 28 as HorrorBuzz.com presents a very special screening of director Brian De Palma’s 1976 adaptation of King’s terrifying first novel, on a night we’re calling A Very Carrie Prom.   Not only will we be screening the original horror classic, starring Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie in their iconic Academy Award-nominated performances, but we’ll be busting out all your prom favorites, such as spiked punch, 70’s slow-dance classics, decorations, and of course – the crowning of a King & Queen!  Dress up in your Prom best for a chance to win!

Withdrawn and sensitive teen Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) faces taunting from classmates at school, and abuse from her fanatically pious mother (Piper Laurie) at home. When strange occurrences start happening around Carrie, she begins to suspect that she has supernatural powers. Invited to the prom by the empathetic Tommy Ross (William Katt), Carrie tries to let her guard down, but her bullies stage a cruel prank, things take a dark and violent turn…

“Brian De Palma’s Carrie is an absolutely spellbinding horror movie, with a shock at the end that’s the best thing along those lines since the shark leaped aboard in Jaws.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“A voluptuously shot horror movie.” – Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune

“Rating: 5/5.   The reason Carrie is still held in such high regard as a horror classic is very simple: it’s all in the sheer directorial bravado. De Palma at the top of his game.” – Andrew Collins, Empire Magazine
