Two years before he revolutionized television sketch comedy with In Living Color, Keenen Ivory Wayans wrote, directed, and starred in the sensational 1988 comedy I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, a hilarious send-up of 1970’s blaxploitation cinema that expertly mixed veterans of the 70’s genre such as Jim Brown, Bernie Casey, Antonio Fargas, Clarence Williams III, and Isaac Hayes with then-rising comedy talents such as Kadeem Hardison, Ja’net Dubois, John Witherspoon, Damon Wayans – and in one hilarious, scene-stealing, and infinitely quotable scene, a young Chris Rock.
Soldier Jack Spade (Wayans) returns to his hometown of Any Ghetto, U.S.A. after receiving news that his brother Junebug died of an “OG” – an overdose on gold chains. Surveying the old neighborhood, Jack observes the effect of gold chains and criminal mastermind Mr. Big (John Vernon) on his community, and endeavors both to save his town and avenge his brother’s death. With aid from his childhood idol and local hero John Slade (Bernie Casey), Jack assembles a team of soldiers including Kung Fu Joe (Steve James), former “Pimp of the Year” Flyguy (Antonio Fargas), Slammer (Jim Brown), and Hammer (Isaac Hayes) to wage war against the baddies – with a little unwanted help from his loving mama (a pitch-perfect Ja’net DuBois) along the way.

“Unrelenting, unremitting – a brilliant broad-brush of a parody.” – Lesli Goff, Empire Magazine
“There’s so much energy in this satire, that you can’t help laughing at its bawdy charm. Clumsy, irreverent, adolescent, yes – And very funny.” – Cathy Burke, United Press International
