It was only a matter of time, but monster hit Mandy is heading back to The Frida Cinema this February!

Pacific Northwest, 1983 AD. Outsiders Red Miller (Nicolas Cage) and Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough) lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand (Linus Roache), Red is catapulted into a phantasmagorical journey filled with bloody vengeance, and laced with fire.

To delve deeper into Mandy here would be to risk spoiling many of the film’s surprises – or as Heather Wixson of Daily Dead wrote in her five-star review, “There are so many reasons why I loved Mandy, and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface here – but to be honest, so many of those things were genuine surprises for me as I was watching it, and I feel like that’s the best way for anyone to see it.”

Directed by Panos Cosmatos. 2018. 121 minutes. Rated R.

Friday, February 15 – 8pm, 11pm
Saturday, February 16 – 8pm, 11pm

“Were scientists to engineer an uncut, 100-proof cult sensation, it would probably look, sound, and kick like this.” – A.A. Dowd, AV Club

★★. Those still suffering from withdrawal symptoms from the end of David Lynch’s epic Twin Peaks revival last year – the cure has been found.”– James Croot, Stuff.co.nz

“Mandy is a totally uncompromising vision from a singular filmmaker – a pulsing, twisted descent into heavy metal vengeance that must be seen to be believed.” – Ben Pearson, Slashfilm
