From acclaimed animation filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast) and GKIDS comes the breathtaking animated adventure Mirai!
The Frida Cinema will be hosting presentations of this acclaimed new anime masterpiece in its original Japanese soundtrack with English subtitles, as well as some select screenings in its new English-dub version!

In his most heartfelt outing to-date, Hosoda – hailed for years as “the next Miyazaki” – casts the growing pains of a young family as a fantastic journey through time and space. Both deeply relatable and a riveting escape into the imagination, Mirai will be sure to speak to audiences of all ages with its poignant and original tale of a young boy who encounters a magical garden which enables him to travel through time and meet his relatives from different eras, with guidance by his younger sister from the future.

The first anime to have its world premiere at Cannes Directors’ Fortnght, Mirai has gone on to critical acclaim at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, the BFI London Film Festival, and Sitges International Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Animated Feature.
