Catch the next Catbus to The Frida Cinema — Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro returns February 16th and 17th!

Set in the late 50s, My Neighbor Totoro follows sisters Satsuke and Mei as they settle in at their new home. As they explore the nearby forest, they come across Totoro, a raccoon-like forest spirit who takes the girls on wondrous adventures. Although their time with Totoro serves simply as escapist fun at first, he proves to be a benevolent guardian to them when the troubles of the real world crash in on their lives.

Whimsical and moving, My Neighbor Totoro was a smash hit upon its initial release, and played a large part in making Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli a household name on both sides of the Pacific. With its environmentalist undertones and earnest, innocent sensibility, it’s easy to see why it charmed audiences worldwide, and why it continues to do so to this day.
