See James Dean’s iconic role on the big screen, as we present Warner Bros.’ 4K Restoration of Nicholas Ray’s 1955 classic, Rebel Without a Cause.
Jim Stark (James Dean) is the new teenager in town, hoping for a fresh start after being forced to move to escape his troubled past. After being arrested, he makes friends with fellow troubled classmates Plato (Sal Mineo) and Judy (Natalie Wood), who also happens to be the girlfriend of neighborhood gangleader Buzz (Corey Allen). Jim eventually falls for Judy, and seeks to prove himself in switchblade knife fights and dangerous drag races that lead to even more trouble.
One of the first films to portray teen angst at its most visceral and explosive, Rebel Without a Cause was an instant hit. Fresh from his Oscar-nominated performance in East of Eden, James Dean changed cinema forever with his quintessential portrayal of disturbed youth, turning in a performance that was matched measure for measure by Mineo and Wood, both of whom received Academy Award nominations for their roles. A timeless classic, Rebel Without a Cause was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.”
Directed by Nicholas Ray. 111 minutes. 1995. Re-Rated PG-13.

“An indelible vision of a pretty 1950s America with a searing crack in it.” – San Francisco Chronicle
