A visually enthralling and deeply personal masterpiece from Oscar-winning film-maker Alfonso Cuarón, Roma has emerged as one of the best reviewed films of the year, taking home over 80 international film awards, and now nominated for three Golden Globes including Best Director and Best Picture of the Year.

A vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife, family dynamics, and social hierarchy amidst political turmoil in 1970’s Mexico City, the semi-autobiographical Roma – Cuaron’s first film since Academy Awards for directing and editing 2003’s Gravity – follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighborhood of Roma. In the service of delivering this cinematic love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón serves not only as director but sole screenwriter, co-editor (along with Adam Gough), and cinematographer, shooting the proceedings in a sumptuous black-and-white that communicates both the mundanity of everyday life, and the richness and beauty found in the smallest details by a man reflecting on his childhood with newfound perspective and soulful appreciation.
