Selected by our Volunteer of the Month: Reggie Peralta!

Experience the first two theatrical adventures of the Starship Enterprise – back to back on the big screen!

Star Trek: The Motion Picture, director Robert Wise’s cerebral and visually stunning 1979 three-time Oscar-nominee, finds James T. Kirk and crew called upon by the Federation to investigate an immense cloud-like object that has destroyed three powerful Klingon cruisers and a space station, and appears to be on a collision course with Earth.  Crisis strikes when a probe dispatched by the cloud, which harbors artificial intelligence and an ominous primary directive, attacks the crew and abducts their navigator Lt. Ilia (Persis Khambatta). As Kirk struggles to settle back in as commander of the Enterprise for the first time in years, an android look-alike containing Lt. Ilia’s memories shows up to further complicate matters.  Will the reunited crew relive their former glory, and save the world from this destructive foe?

After a brief intermission, double-feature will continue with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, director Nicholas Meyer’s stellar 1982 sequel!  Feeling older and aimless, and far removed from his days as a young intergalactic renegade, Admiral Kirk rejoins his crew on a three-week training exercise.  When fellow Federation ship USS Reliant is on a mission to search for a lifeless planet for testing of the Genesis Device, a technology designed to reorganize matter to create habitable worlds for colonization, they come across Khan, an exiled conqueror with a blinding lust for vengeance against Kirk.  What transpires is a battle of wills with all the bombast and passion of Melville’s Moby Dick, featuring a towering performance by Ricardo Montalban as a villain as brutal as he is brilliant, hellbent to both harness the Genesis Device for his own despotic purposes, and claim his revenge against the man who left he and his people to their deaths – James T. Kirk.

Tickets to both shows are our standard $10 General Admission, and $8 for Students with ID!  Membership Discounts and Passes honored.  Advance tickets now on sale at The Frida, or online by clicking here!

We are happy to program this double-feature in appreciation of our Volunteer of the Month, Reggie Peralta, who selected Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan as one of his favorite films!   Thanks for all your help, Reggie!!
