After two sold-out screenings earlier this month, Dario Argento’s Suspiria: 4K Uncut Restoration returns for four nights at The Frida, October 23-26! Tickets available here!
20th Century Fox and Synapse Films have joined forces to allow for Synapse’s 4K DCP Restoration of Suspiria – which also boasts a restored original 4.0 discrete surround mix, not heard since its original theatrical release! – to see the light at art house cinemas, and we couldn’t think of a better film to open everyone’s favorite month of all things spooky! Celebrating 40 Years as one of the genre’s most terrifying – and breathtakingly beautiful – classics, Argento’s 1977 chiller stars Jessica Harper as Suzy, an American dancer who travels to Germany to attend ballet school. When she arrives late on a stormy night, she is shocked to find herself knocking on the door without an answer, seeming to suggest the school is empty – except for the terrified-looking student she sees fleeing from the school and into the rainy dark. Returning the next day (after the audience is treated to one of cinema’s most famously-constructed murders), Suzy is admitted to her new school, a gorgeous but menacing house of horrors filled with strange noises, stranger teachers, a terrifying history, and a rapidly increasing body count…
We thank 20th Century Fox and Synapse Films for joining forces to ensure that Dario Argento’s uncut and restored vision is shared with horror lovers as it was meant to be screen – bright, vivid, bloody, and loud, on the big screen!
