The Frida Cinema proudly presents provocateur/filmmaker Harmony Korine’s newest romp through the wild world of Floridian beaches (sound familiar, Spring Breakers fans?) in The Beach Bum!
Join us for four special encore screenings of this refreshingly original and subversive new comedy from the mind of the man who brought you Gummo, Trash Humpers, and Kids!
The Beach Bum follows the absurdist adventures (or misadventures) of Moondog (Matthew McConaughey), a vagrant writer who always lives life by his own rules. Talented, though he is, Moondog is often sidetracked by his fun-loving, pot-smoking, beer-drinking pastimes. If he can put his vices to the side for just a few moments, he may finally be able to put finish the next great American novel. Co-starring Snoop Dog, Zac Efron, and Isla Fisher, The Beach Bum is a hilarious and rebellious look into the mind of a troubled artist. Even by Korine’s twisted standards, this one is truly wild.

“The Beach Bum works by never losing its tonal statement that all that really matters is what matters to you … man.” – Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
“The Beach Bum is a fantasy par excellence about life without consequences; a thought exercise in what it would look like if someone truly lived without a care in the world.” – Hazen Fahmy, Film Inquiry
