In Lars von Trier’s controversial new thriller The House that Jack Built, we follow the highly intelligent Jack (Matt Dillon) through five incidents – and are introduced to the murders that define Jack’s development as a serial killer, experiencing the story from his point of view. Viewing each murder as a work of art unto itself, Jack wades through the challenges posed by his dysfunction, and the threat of an ever-mounting police investigation, to continue to take on grander challenges in the hopes of realizing his ultimate vision – a tour de force “work of art” of unspeakable savagery.

A dark and sinister story that brims with the philosophy, poetry, and wry humor that von Trier (Melancholia, Antichrist, Nymphomaniac) is both celebrated and notorious for, The House That Jack Built is an unsettling and audacious new opus co-starring Uma Thurman, Siobhan Fallon, and Wings of Desire’s Bruno Ganz.
