Director David Mickey Evans’ 1993 classic The Sandlot comes to The Frida Cinema as part of our $7 Weekend Matinee series, Saturday May 12th and Sunday May 13th at 11:30am, with an additional evening screening Sunday the 13th at 5:30pm!
When Scottie Smalls (Thomas Guiry) moves to a new neighborhood with his mother and stepfather, he manages to make friends with a group of kids who play baseball down at the sandlot. Together they go on a series of funny and touching adventures involving baseball, treehouse sleep-ins, dreamily ogling at the pretty lifeguard at the local pool, and a traveling fair. But their ultimate journey arrives when Smalls borrows a ball from his stepdad and hits it over a fence – on the other side of which dwells a legendary ball-eating dog called The Beast…
Saturday, May 12 – 11:30am

“Old baseball wisdom: The best teams win with strong fundamentals. So do the best movies.” – Bob Cannon, Entertainment Weekly
“It’s a bonafide masterpiece that warrants admiration, even two decades after its release.” – Felix Vasquez Jr., Cinema Crazed
