Voted the #1 Scariest Film of All Time by Entertainment Weekly, and riding at the top of most Horror Film ranking lists, Stanley Kubrick’s terrifying masterpiece of looming dread The Shining closes out our four-film tribute to Master of Horror Stephen King, screening Wednesday October 25 (7:30pm), Thursday October 26 (7:30pm), and Saturday October 28 (5pm).
Jack Nicholson delivers one of his most unhinged and iconic performances as Jack Torrance, a struggling writer who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado. He settles in along with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), who is plagued by psychic premonitions that only get worse the more time he spends at the creepy hotel. As Jack’s writing goes nowhere and Danny’s visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel’s dark secrets, and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hellbent on terrorizing his family.
Truly an experience of sight and sound best experienced on the big screen (as are all films, but notably, the films of Stanley Kubrick), The Shining will be presented in 4K and on a remastered 5.1 stereo soundtrack, courtesy of Warner Bros.
