Director Stephen Daldry’s THE HOURS was adapted from Michael Cunningham’s novel of the same title. The film features three women of different generations living vastly different lives, all connected by Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway: a struggling 1950s housewife (Julianne Moore), Woolf herself (Nicole Kidman, in her Oscar-winning performacne), and a contemporary New Yorker living a life oddly similar to that of Dalloway herself, thus earning the nickname of “Mrs. Dalloway” (Meryl Streep). The film, with brief exception, follows each of these women through the events of a single day, twisting their stories into an elegant and powerful braid.
Philip Glass, composer of the unforgettable Einstein on the Beach and Satyagraha, snagged a BAFTA Award and Oscar nomination for his spellbinding score. This is but one of the 24 awards The Hours took home out of its astounding 82 international nominations. Don’t miss a cast of contemporary masters at the top of their craft. The Hours is not to be missed.

“You don’t just love the movie for its structure but for the haunted people in it, making each other miserable, but forcing each other to face who they are.” – Desson Thomson, Washington Post
