Remember, remember the 5th of November…
Based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, V for Vendetta takes place in an dystopian and authoritarian version of Britain in which a nefarious and abusive totalitarian government has surged to the point of total uncontested power. During an unfortunate run in with the secret police, a diffident young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) is rescued by a vigilante named V (Hugo Weaving), a cape wearing figure who is both eloquent as he is adept in hand to hand combat. V embodies the basis of rebellion against the authoritarian state they live under, wearing a mask of denounced pseudo-terrorist of British history, Guy Fawkes, and spearheading a revolution ignited by assassination and destruction. Evey becomes his unlikely ally, newly aware of the barbarism of her own society — and her role in it.
