Back by popular demand for a short run of late-night screenings! Mind-blowing, disturbing, polarizing, shocking, mesmerizing, and altogether original, director Emiliano Rocha Minter’s TENEMOS A CARNE (WE ARE THE FLESH) is a surreal art house mind-bender that defies categorization. Classified by RottenTomatoes.com as Science Fiction & Fantasy, Horror, perhaps Catherine Bray of Variety puts it best in a section of her review: “A brief synopsis barely hints at the intensity with which the Mexican shocker We Are the Flesh unleashes its joyously demented portrait of humanity.”
The distributors offer the following plot: A young brother and sister roam an apocalyptic city looking for food and shelter. They take refuge in the dilapidated lair of a strange hermit who quickly puts them to work building a bizarre cavernous structure, where he acts out his insane and depraved fantasies. Trapped in a maddening womb-like world under his malign influence, they find themselves sinking into the realms of dark and forbidden behavior.
Plot, of course, is often irrelevant in the world of the art film – and make no mistake about it, We are the Flesh is most definitely bona fide, unapologetic, often grotesque, consistently ambiguous, and considerably sexually graphic art house cinema. A must for those who love genre cinema that creeps under the skin while not bothering to explain itself, We are the Flesh will not appeal to all tastes, but has already found a cult audience in festival screenings around the world. We are excited to present this singularly bizarre and unforgettable shocker to our audiences – at the same time that we stress that you’ve been warned…
Due to the graphic content in this film, included but not limited to full frontal nudity and graphic scenes of sexuality, no one under 18 admitted.
Presented in Spanish, with English subtitles.
