The OC Film Fiesta is proud to present a Special Screening before its USA Theatrical Release of RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH, the new award-winning independent feature film based on the novel by science fiction legend and former Santa Ana resident, Philip K. Dick, starring SHEA WHIGHAM (Boardwalk Empire), JONATHAN SCARFE (Perception), ALANIS MORISSETTE, KATHERYN WINNICK (Vikings) and SCOTT WILSON (The Walking Dead).

Based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and set in a quasi-fascist, alternative U.S. of the 1980s, Radio Free Albemuth is a great combo pack of higher intelligence and conspiracy theories. Berkeley record store clerk Nick Brady (Jonathan Scarfe) begins to experience strange visions from an entity he calls VALIS that cause him to uproot his family and move to Los Angeles, where he becomes a successful music company executive. With the help of his best friend, science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick himself (Shea Whigam), and a mysterious woman named Silvia (Alanis Morissette), Nick finds himself drawn into a dangerous political-mystical conspiracy of cosmic proportions.

The film also stars Katheryn Winnick.  With songs and score (co-written) by cult singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock.

Posthumously published in 1985, the source material is Dick’s most autobiographical work. Radio Free Albemuth is faithful to the novel’s detailed plot and complex meditations on the interplay of earthly realities, spiritual beliefs, and otherworldly powers that determine the protagonists’ destiny. Variety calls filmmaker John Alan Simon’s film ” Consistently absorbing.  Well performed.  Narrative delivers satisfying intrigue and suspense.  Should connect strongly with Dick’s fanbase and attract upscale audiences seeking sci-fi with political and philosophical substance”

Radio Free Albemuth is required viewing—not only for sci-fi aficionados, but for anyone interested in true independent cinema. Filmmaker John Alan Simon will be on hand to discuss how he brought PKD to the screen in a Q and A after the film and on a panel about Philip K. Dick before the screening.
