Epic Pictures and Ultra Fuchsia Films present Drew Bolduc’s (Science Team) new film, Assassinaut. Set in the not-so-distant future, aliens have invaded Earth and declared a galactic war, resulting in thousands of human casualties and nuclear fallout. Following an assassination attempt, four teenage astronauts are sent to a distant planet to rescue Earth’s president.
With its low budget science fiction-horror ’80s aesthetic and complementary synth soundtrack, Assassinaut was an official selection at both the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival and the Boston Underground Film Festival.
“Assassinaut . . . mixes colorful, charmingly retro visuals with tech and locations based in our real-world military. The result is as if Alien were directed by Wes Anderson.” — Stephanie Cole, Nightmare on Film Street
“Despite the ultra-pulpy plot that feels like a synthesis of such disparate elements as ’50s alien invasion sci-fi, ’70s conspiracy paranoia, and modern day young adult genre novels, ASSASSINAUT manages to maintain a remarkably consistent tone that I can only describe as Terrence Malick making an alien/slasher mashup.” — Matt Wedge, The Daily Grindhouse
“Make no mistake though: this isn’t The Boxcar Children in space. Once things start going south, they do so in surprising, and legitimately horrifying, ways.” — Oscar Goff, Boston Hassle
