CASABLANCA: The Frida Cinema’s 5th Anniversary Screening & Celebration

February 21, 2019 @ 7:30 pm

On Thursday, February 21st, join us as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary with a special screening of 1942’s Casablanca!

Ticket holders are welcome to join us at 6:30pm for an pre-screening mixer, with hors d’oeuvres and drinks included with your ticket! At 7:30pm, we will present a brief presentation where we will highlight our non-profit art house cinema’s accomplishments over our first Five Years, as well as some of our visions for the future!

Then sit back as we present a 4K Restoration of one of the greatest films of all time – director Michael Curtiz’ Casablanca!  Far more than a simple period romance, Casablanca is an inspiring epic that showcases humanity at its best in the face of impending political doom. In World War II Casablanca, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), exiled American and former freedom fighter, runs the most popular nightspot in town, having given up The Fight to run a den of gambling, extortion, and excess. As a Nazi presence grows in Casablanca, a twist of fate finds Rick in possession of two valuable letters of transit – which can mean an escape from Nazi persecution for Czechoslovakian underground leader Victor Laszlo, who arrives in Casablanca for those very letters. There’s only one problem – Lazslo arrives with his wife Ilsa, who is Rick’s one-time love, and chief cause of his newfound heartache and hardened cynicism…

Tickets are $20, and include pre-screening hors d’oeuvres and drinks, as well as popcorn and soft drinks for the show!   Special Fundraiser Celebration Event: Member Discounts and Comp Passes not accepted.

Thank you for an amazing first five years! See you at Casablanca!
