MenAlive – The Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus’ Films at The Frida series is back with the 1980 comedy classic 9 to 5 — for a one-night-only benefit screening on Thursday, June 13th! Event starts at 6pm with a pre-show; films starts at 7pm!
Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman star in this groundbreaking and wholly feminist satire focusing on three smart and savvy female employees who are forced to endure working for an evil, chauvinistic boss they describe as the biggest “sexist egotistical lying hypocritical bigot” on the planet. When a freak accident occurs and the boss is suddenly unable to, uh, untie himself to resume his duties, the ladies seize the opportunity to make some productive, positive changes back at the office.
A favorite among LGBT moviegoers, 9 to 5 is a comedy best enjoyed on the big screen with a theater full of fans – and here’s your chance! “9 to 5 is tremendous fun.” – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian
“This is one of the most delightful films of the year. It’s an entertaining movie with a social and political point to make about office politics.” – Bruce McCabe, Boston Globe
“Tomlin, Parton, and Coleman all arguably turn in the most memorable roles of their careers. And then there’s the script, which is sharp, jaded, and nihilistic, unusual for films form this era, which were typically dripping with sentimentality.” – Christopher Null, Filmcritic.com
