2019-04-19T20:15:00-07:00 returns with a Re-Animator double feature! Director Stuart Gordon and producer Brian Yuzna’s joint debut feature—a gloriously gory, tongue-in-bloody-cheek 1985 adaptation of works by H.P. Lovecraft—is a visionary, awe-inspiring amalgam of the gory films of Lucio Fulci, William Castle, and Frankenstein, where science meets chaos to produce an hyperactive overdose of gruesome insanity.

Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) is an awkward but determined university student who also moonlights as a mad scientist, intent on perfecting a neon green serum that “re-animates” corpses with the help of his roommate Dan (Bruce Abbot). When his experiments start to strike gold, his achievements capture the attention of ruthlessly ambitious Dr. Carl Hill (David Gale, oozing scene-stealing slime), who sets out to steal West’s research, setting in motion a series of increasingly disastrous events.

With berserker theatrics, career-defining roles from horror icons Combs, Gale, and Barbara Crampton—and more than a few scenes and visuals that are too deliciously macabre to spoil here—Re-Animator isn’t just a masterpiece of the horror genre…it’s one of the truly defining genre films of the 1980s!

Directed by Stuart Gordon | 105 minutes | 1985 | Rated R

And then, our favorite mad scientist, Herbert West returns in Bride of Re-Animator. Brian Yunza takes over directing duties in this sequel that builds upon the mythology, gore, and humor of the first film. After spending time in Peru as medical volunteers, where they used wounded soldiers to discover secrets to re-animating dead tissue, Dan and Herbert return to Miskatonic Hospital in hopes of bringing Dan’s girlfriend back to life. But things go from bad to worse in this Bride-of-Frankenstein homage when a lieutenant investigating the hospital massacre is murdered and re-animated, along with Dr. Hill’s head! Will they succeed in creating the perfect woman?

“An all-time classic of the horror world, slapping an added level of gore and dark humour to the already bloodstained landscape of 1980s horror.  It’s remarkable that, over 30 years since its release, Re-Animator still stands as the best film-adaptation of any H.P. Lovecraft story to date.”Starburst

“Re-Animator is splatter heaven.  Its gore is exceeded only by its wit.” –Paul Attanasio, Washington Post

“A bona fide classic of ’80s horror, and one of the funniest splatter-comedies of all time.” – Austin Trunick, Under the Radar
