Join The Frida After Dark to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Alex Cox’s Repo Man!

When punk rocker Otto (Emilio Estevez) lands a job repossessing cars with Bud (Harry Dean Stanton), things go from weird to worse. A 1964 Chevy Malibu said to have top-secret cargo has a $20,000 price tag, but it also attracts the attention of the government and others who claim that its contents may be extraterrestrial in nature.

Featuring a killer soundtrack, biting social commentary on food packaging during the 1980s (gotta love those props that simply state “Beer” and “Food—Meat Flavored”), and a hilarious sequence of events, Repo Man has retained its status as a cult classic that Entertainment Weekly ranked at #7 on its “Top 50 Cult Films of All-Time” list!

“The real thing. It’s a sneakily rude, truly zany farce that treats its lunatic characters with a solemnity that perfectly matches the way in which they see themselves.” – Vincent Canby, The New York Times

“Cox, who wrote and directed the film, creates a strange but hilarious view of our culture, a brilliant satire on modern society.”  Austin Chronicle

“This is the kind of movie that baffles Hollywood, because it isn’t made from any known formula and doesn’t follow the rules.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
