We are so pleased to once again welcome the students of this semester’s Los Angeles in Film & Fiction class at Chapman University, who will be visiting the streets of L.A. on the silver screens for four fantastic films at The Frida for the second year – and you, our audience, gets to join them!
Starting off the series is Billy Wilder’s legendary 1950 classic Sunset Blvd., starring Gloria Swanson in her iconic role as Norma Desmond, an aging silent film queen who refuses to accept the fact that her stardom has ended. A chance accident introduces her to young screenwriter Joe Gillis (William Holden), who she promptly hires to write her big comeback film. Believing he’s found his naive meal ticket, Joe sets out to manipulate Norma – but he soon finds out he’s messing with the wrong diva…
Directed by Billy Wilder. 1950. 115 minutes.
Tuesday, September 18 – 7pm
