Award-winning anime director Keiichi Hara returns with The Wonderland, a visually stunning coming-of-age drama reminiscent of early Miyazaki films.
On the day before her birthday, young Akane is taken by the mysterious alchemist Hippocrates through a basement and into a fantastical world full of magic and color. He reveals that not only is this world in danger but also that, as the “Green Goddess”, it is her destiny and responsibility to save this world. The only problem? Akane just wants to go home.
The Wonderland offers a novel retelling of the Lewis Carroll classic with rich animation and captivating world-building.
All screenings will be presented in the film’s original Japanese with English subtitles.
