IFC Midnight returns with the slick and suspenseful new film from director Orson Oblowitz, Trespassers.
Two couples, each working through relationship issues, rent a gorgeous house in the desert for a sex-and-drugs-fueled escape from reality. Sarah (Angela Trimbur) and Estelle (Janel Parrish) are longtime best friends looking forward to reconnecting after a period apart; however, their boyfriends, Joseph (Zach Avery) and Victor (Jonathan Howard), are immediately wary of one another. As tensions escalate over a night of debauchery, things take an unexpected turn when a woman (Fairuza Balk) claiming to be a neighbor with car trouble shows up at the door. She seems harmless enough, but it isn’t long before the four friends realize they’ve arrived at the wrong violent place at the wrong bloody time…
A stylish, blood-and neon-soaked home invasion thriller with a twist from the director of the award-winning 2017 thriller The Queen of Hollywood Blvd., Trespassers is the latest critically-acclaimed horror film festival offering from masters of the genre, IFC Midnight!
“It’s beautifully crafted and does what it does very effectively. Oblowitz’s background in cinematography serves him well, giving it strong visual impact and a lot more personality than its slender story might be expected to support.” – Jennie Kermode, Eye for Film
“Offers some nice perspectives on the home invasion genre, with some interesting character work elevating it more than others.” – Kat Hughes, The Hollywood News
“The kills are inventive and disgusting, but the afterimage is the movie’s absolute empathy with its female protagonists.” – Walter Chaw, Film Freak Central
