The Frida Cinema

Orange County's Year-Round Film Festival

Coming courtesy of RLJE Films is VFW, a retro-style action thriller from Joe Begos.

It’s a typical night for a group of veterans at a VFW until a teenage girl runs into the bar. Surprised at how scared the teen is, they discover she has a bag of stolen drugs on her. Soon enough, a gang of violent punks come looking for her and the vets have to use every weapon at their disposal to protect the girl and themselves.

A love letter to 70s grindhouse films, VFW is a gory treat for fans of genre cinema.

“A throwback designed to satisfy those with an insatiable craving for a grindhouse cover version of John Carpenter’s greatest hits.” – Nick Schager, The Daily Beast

“VFW is a cracking thriller, its pulse-pounding theatrics making this an agreeably bruising good time I loved every single gosh darn blood-soaked second of.” – Sara Michelle Feters,

“‘VFW’ is riotously scuzzy and warmly partial to its rusty heroes.” – Jeannette Catsoulis, The New York Times
