Join us for FESTIVAL DE TRASH-MEX, a three-night film festival at The Frida Cinema showcasing what “Trash-Mex” is all about with six genre classic Mexican film screenings, original Mexican film memorabilia displayed in the theater, and more!

FRIDAY, MAY 19TH | 8PM

Dimensiones Ocultas + Navajeros Directed by Ruben Galindo Jr. + Eloy de la Igelsia | 1989 + 1980

In Dimensiones Ocultas, an innocent game with a ouija board turns into a bloody nightmare when a demon is unleashed from it! A huge staple in 80’s Mexican Trash Horror! Dimensiones Ocultas (also known as “Don’t Panic”) is chockfull of blood, mayhem & even some romance. From director Ruben Galindo Jr. who had also brought upon “Ladrones De Tumbas” & “Cementerio De Terror”. Navajeros is based on the real life story of “El Jaro”, a teenage criminal who caused absolute mayhem in the mean streets of Spain. El Jaro always gets by with a little help from his friends and a very friendly prostitute known as “La Mexicana” (played by legendary Mexican actress Isela Vega). A Spanish/Mexican co-production; Navajeros (also known as “Dulces Navajas”) is one of the most epic & gritty ‘Cine Quinqui’ titles. – TICKETS =

La Venganza de la Llorona + Santo y Blue Demon vs. Dracula y El Hombre Lobo Directed by Miguel M. Delgado + Gilberto Martinez Solares | 1974 + 1970

In La Venganza de le Llorona, legendary silver-masked wrestler El Santo & boxer Mantequilla Nopales team up with a professor to acquire a medallion from a mummified tomb belonging to the horrifying “La Llorona”. True terror then begins when she is awakened from her tomb In Santo y Blue Demon vs. Dracula y El Hombre Lobo, witness an epic battle between good & evil! Monsters Galore! The legendary masked-wrestlers El Santo & Blue Demon must confront the newly-resurrected Dracula and his helping hand—The Wolf Man! – TICKETS –

El Violador Infernal + A Secret Mario Almada Title Directed by Damian Acosta Esparza + Mario Almada | 1988

In El Violdaor Infernal, notorious criminal Carlos “El Gato” (played Noe Murayama) is executed on the electric chair but later brought back to life by madam Satan (elegantly played by Ana Luisa Peluffo). In exchange for a new life and all the drugs & riches in the world; El Gato must provide Satan with human sacrifices and all must have the mark of the beast: 666. Mexican action star Mario Almada had graced the big screens in Mexico & the United States for over 6 decades and with a lengthy, record-breaking filmography to prove it. For one night only, come see one of his best & most defining films ever. This film is non-stop gun-firing action & machismo.
