In the 18th-century, freewheeling pirate Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds himself within a heap of mythological trouble. Quarrelling with the dastardly Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), who is bent on pillaging Port Royal, Sparrow decides to help local blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) save the love of his life, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), by embarking on the open seas with hopes of reclaiming his beloved ship, The Black Pearl. Occupied by Barbossa’s leadership, the Pearl’s crew is found at the behest of an age-old curse, surfacing upon every moonrise with skeletal results.

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) has a debt to pay in blood. Warned by the spectre of a former crewmate, Sparrow is forced to answer directly to Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), the tentacle-bearded captain of the Flying Dutchman, to settle a long-overdue debt or suffer eternal damnation in Jones’ locker. Reunited (against his will) with Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), Sparrow will do anything to evade his obligations, even if it means having to also evade an island of cannibals, a cursed crew of fish-human hybrids, and Jones’ man-eating, ship-wrecking pet, the Kraken.

But just beyond the edge of the Earth lies further questions than answers, eventually leading up to a whirlpooling battle of the ages between the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman.
