Steady Hands Presents Studio Ghibli! – June 2024

Steady Hands is excited to announce their FIRST pop-up ever! They’ll be putting on a Studio Ghibli movie/pop-up event here at The Frida this Sunday, June 9th from 12-7pm. They’ll be showing 3 movies throughout the day while selling a NEW collection in the other theater! You are NOT obligated to watch the movie to purchase anything from the pop-up. Whether you come to watch the movie, buy something from the collection or just come to hang out, we hope to see you there!

Please note all films will be presented dubbed in English.

Ponyo – June 9

When Sosuke, a young boy who lives on a clifftop overlooking the sea, rescues a stranded goldfish named Ponyo, he discovers more than he bargained for. Ponyo is a curious, energetic young creature who yearns to be human, but even as she causes chaos around the house, her father, a powerful sorcerer, schemes to return Ponyo to the sea.

In this anime feature, 13-year-old Kiki moves to a seaside town with her talking cat, Jiji, to spend a year alone, in accordance with her village’s tradition for witches in training. After learning to control her broomstick, Kiki sets up a flying courier service and soon becomes a fixture in the community. But when the insecure young witch begins questioning herself and loses her magic abilities, she must overcome her self-doubt to get her powers back.
