Live to tell the tale of a man and his crocodile with Tobe Hooper's 1976 horror film Eaten Alive, playing as part of our WTF Wednesdays series.
After being evicted from her brothel, a Texan prostitute named Clara (Roberta Collins) finds herself staying overnight at the swampy, downbeat Starlight Hotel, run by a lonesome and disturbed proprietor named Judd (Neville Brand). When news of her disappearance surfaces, Clara's father (Mel Ferrer) appears at the hotel with questions, alongside an unassuming family. What both parties fail to comprehend, however, is Judd's pet Nile crocodile caverning beneath the balcony of the hotel, awaiting new flesh to feast on.
Featuring a sleazy turn by a pre-Freddy Krueger Robert Englund, Tobe Hooper followed up his wildly successful Texas Chain Saw Massacre with another Southern horror that is just as unflinching and enigmatic.
