Edward Scissorhands: Free Outdoor Screening–Classics on French Street

Grab your blankets, coolers, and low-back chairs, and join us on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022 as we convert a Downtown Santa Ana street into an outdoor cinema to present one of Tim Burton's most beloved films, Edward Scissorhands! Film starts at 8:30pm; street will be open to guests at 7:30pm!

Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) makes a living selling beauty products door-to-door, and finds herself at the doorsteps of a gothic mansion on the outskirts of her suburban neighborhood. There, she discovers a young man named Edward (Johnny Depp) living alone with scissor blades where his hands should be. Edward is brought into Peg's community, where he finds himself smitten with Peg's daughter Kim (Winona Ryder) and embraced by the neighbors – but their affections soon begin to turn after Edward is falsely accused of a crime.

This will be the second of six outdoor screenings which will be presented the Third Thursday of every month from January to June, on Downtown Santa Ana's French Street and Calle Cuatro Plaza, between 4th and 5th Streets, right around the corner from The Frida! Our Classics on French Street is being provided to our community free-of-charge thanks to generous support from the City of Santa Ana and Community Engagement!

Let us know you're coming! Please RSVP!

Parking is available in the City of Santa Ana's four-story parking structure located at 300 E. 5th Street. Standard parking rates will apply.

Bring a blanket, towel, LOW-BACK chair, or anything else you need to get comfy and enjoy a movie under the stars! Picnic baskets and outside food are welcome, though keep in mind that there are several fantastic neighboring restaurants that will be open to get your food needs handled! NOTE: Due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we will not have concessions or vendors present at this first Classics on French Street event, so make sure to bring all your favorite movie-going snacks with you!

Alcohol and smoking are prohibited. Please be courteous to your fellow audience members — if you are planning to bring chairs, bring LOW-BACK chairs so as to not block the folks behind you.

The street will be open to guests at 7:30pm, one hour before the film starts!

If you have not been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, we ask that you protect yourself and those around you by wearing a mask at this event. If you have been vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus, defined as having received the full and final dose of your selected vaccine over two weeks ago, you are not obligated to wear a mask at this outdoor event — though you are welcome and highly encouraged to do so. If you are not feeling well, or have a fever, stay home, rest, and get well! Keep posted -- we'll be announcing the rest of the titles in our series shortly!
