In the Heights: Free Outdoor Screening – Classics on French Street

Grab your blankets, coolers, and low-back chairs, and join us on Thursday, June 16th, 2022 as we convert a Downtown Santa Ana street into an outdoor cinema to present Jon M. Chu's 2021 musical In The Heights! Film starts at 8:30pm; street will be open to guests at 7:30pm!

Based on the smash hit musical of the same name by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film is set in the primarily Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York. Usnavi de la Vega, his friends, and loved ones go about their day-to-day lives in the barrio trying to make ends meet and dreaming of something more. Facing outside obstacles as well as their own insecurities, Usnavi and his neighbors attempt to navigate these difficulties and make their dreams reality.

This will be the last of six outdoor screenings which will be presented the Third Thursday of every month from January to June, on Downtown Santa Ana's French Street and Calle Cuatro Plaza, between 4th and 5th Streets, right around the corner from The Frida! Our Classics on French Street is being provided to our community free-of-charge thanks to generous support from the City of Santa Ana and Community Engagement!

PARKING Parking is available in the City of Santa Ana's four-story parking structure located at 300 E. 5th Street. Standard parking rates will apply.

Bring a blanket, towel, LOW-BACK chair, or anything else you need to get comfy and enjoy a movie under the stars! Picnic baskets and outside food are welcome, though keep in mind that there are several fantastic neighboring restaurants that will be open to get your food needs handled! NOTE: Due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we will not have concessions or vendors present at this first Classics on French Street event, so make sure to bring all your favorite movie-going snacks with you!

Alcohol and smoking are prohibited. Please be courteous to your fellow audience members — if you are planning to bring chairs, bring LOW-BACK chairs so as to not block the folks behind you.

The street will be open to guests at 7:30pm, one hour before the film starts!

If you have not been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, we ask that you protect yourself and those around you by wearing a mask at this event. If you have been vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus, defined as having received the full and final dose of your selected vaccine over two weeks ago, you are not obligated to wear a mask at this outdoor event — though you are welcome and highly encouraged to do so.
