Our Science on Screen series summons The Goblin King, presenting Jim Henson's 1986 musical fantasy classic, Labyrinth.
When teenaged Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is forced to babysit her baby step-brother Toby, she quickly becomes fed up with his incessant whining. Rashly summoning Jareth the Goblin King (David Bowie) to take him away, Sarah is shocked to discover that Toby is actually taken away. Given just thirteen hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue him, Sarah, with the aid of a dwarf named Hoggle, must cross into another world and past the other side before Toby is turned into a goblin forever.
Having acquired a gargantuan cult following since its release, Labyrinth fuses passionate world-building and infectious musical numbers into a singularly fantastical vision.
