The year is 2009, and as the American arcade breathes what many believe to be its last breath, it gives us something new. A year before the first iPad, the first touchscreen arcade game, Technika, brings a future back to the arcade. In the lines to play it, friendships, relationships, and life-long memories form. Four years later, the game will be shut down without explanation. This is the story of its creators, its players, and its moment.
It has been 10 years to the day since the fateful end-of-service announcement, but for those who remember, Technika has not been forgotten! Director Nicholas Dobkin hosts a screening and Q&A, which will include Technika-themed drinks and a rare, playable Technika arcade cabinet, available to play both before and after the screening!
