EIGHT ANIMATED FEATURE FILMS — EIGHT CORNERS OF THE WORLD.
The Frida Cinema invites Santa Ana students currently enrolled in Grades 7th – 12th to apply for enrollment in our upcoming after-school World of Animation screening and discussion series, taking place Tuesday afternoons, April 14th through June 2nd, 2020!
Application can be found below — last day to apply is Saturday, June 5th!
The World of Animation program will provide an opportunity for students to experience and discuss eight enriching, critically-acclaimed, award-winning animated films, representing eight different countries of origin. All films will be presented in their original foreign language, with English subtitles. Discussions will follow each screening to identify and discuss themes presented in each film, as well as to explore how themes such as culture, history, family, and identity are addressed both similarly and differently across different countries of origin, as well as through different animation styles. By engaging our the minds of our community’s students with these captivating films and stories, The Frida Cinema aims to encourage younger audiences to explore and embrace international, non-mainstream cinema, as well as to familiarize themselves with the experience of watching foreign-language films with subtitles.
This series is being offered to students free of charge, thanks to the support of The Doreen D.
