Arvida Books starts the next year of its Movies ‘N’ The Books X Frida series with the final cut of Blade Runner, Ridley Scott’s sci-fi masterpiece!
Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the film is set in a dystopian Los Angeles in 2019 where synthetic humans known as Replicants are bioengineered by the powerful Tyrell Corporation to work essentially as slaves on off-world colonies. When a fugitive group of replicants led by Roy Batty escape back to Earth, burnt-out police officer and “Blade Runner” (a special force assigned to terminate Replicants) Rick Deckard reluctantly agrees to hunt them down. During his investigations, Deckard meets Rachael, an advanced replicant who causes him to question the morality of his work.
A towering achievement in visual effects, mood, and style, Blade Runner left an immense influence on science-fiction cinema that lasts to this day.
Blade Runner: The Final Cut screens Thursday, January 26th.
