Hedwig and The Angry Inch Screens Late Friday As Part of 21st Century Cult

21st Century Cult rocks out with its next entry, John Cameron Mitchell’s 2001 musical drama, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Raised a boy in East Berlin, Hedwig (John Cameron Mitchell) undergoes a personal transformation in order to emigrate to the U.S., where she reinvents herself as an “internationally ignored” but divinely talented rock diva, inhabiting a “beautiful gender of one.” As she navigates her new world, she finds herself shadowed by her own apprentice, Tommy (Michael Pitt), who threatens to steal everything that Hedwig has established herself with.

Based on the 1998 stage musical by Mitchell and Stephen Trask, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a bonafide loud and unapologetically queer rock odyssey.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch screens Friday, August 18th.
