HorrorBuzz Presents Nobuhiko Obayashi’s House Saturday Night!

Have this article read to you, listen to it like a podcast

In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, Horror Movie Night presented by HorrorBuzz is showcasing a recurring Frida favorite: Nobuhiko Obayashi’s singularly stylish and absolutely deranged horror oddity House!

While House has been shown many times at The Frida, Horror Movie Night takes it to another level with a full night of entertainment including a special, and surreal, Japanese-themed HMN Video Preshow, a Frida Cinema Horror Game Show, a Themed Drink, Trivia, and an award-winning horror short from HorrorBuzz’s The Screaming Room Film Festival at Midsummer Scream.

How to describe the indescribable House? A psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby-Doo as directed by Mario Bava? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home and comes face-to-face with evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano, and other ghoulish visions, all realized by Obayashi via mattes, animation, and collage effects.

House screens Saturday, February 24th.
