The VVitch + The Lighthouse

Dates with showtimes for The VVitch + The Lighthouse
  • Thu, Apr 17

Run Time: 201 min. Rating: R

Next up in our A24orror series is our Robert Eggers Double Feature, diving into the twisted, atmospheric worlds of The VVitch and The Lighthouse.  The VVitch takes us back to 17th-century New England, where a Puritan family is slowly undone by supernatural forces lurking in the woods. With its haunting period detail and chilling sense of isolation, this film redefined indie folk horror and set the stage for Eggers’ obsession with unraveling the human psyche. Plus, Black Phillip is still the ultimate horror mascot. Then, we take a ship to The Lighthouse, a surreal, mind-bending descent into madness starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe as two lighthouse keepers trapped in a storm. The intensity of their growing obsession with one another, paired with the claustrophobic, monochrome cinematography, makes this one of the most disturbing (and surprisingly funny) films of the decade. This is a double feature that’s equal parts unnerving and artsy—hallmarks of A24 horror films. Prepare yourself for a night of isolation, madness, and dread, all on the big screen with like-minded fans.

Bodies Bodies Bodies + Climax

Dates with showtimes for Bodies Bodies Bodies + Climax
  • Thu, Apr 24

Run Time: 191 min.

Next up in our A24orror series is a chaotic double feature of Bodies Bodies Bodies and Climax. Both are rollercoasters of excess and anxiety, where the boundaries between party fun and full-blown nightmare collide. Bodies Bodies Bodies takes the classic whodunit and flips it on its head, serving up a hilarious look at a group of Gen-Z friends trapped in a remote mansion during a hurricane. As they play a game of “bodies, bodies, bodies,” a real body turns up, and madness ensues. Climax, on the other hand, takes you to a wild dance party that spirals straight into madness. Gaspar Noé's visceral direction puts you right in the middle of the action as the dancers, high on LSD, descend into an all-out frenzy of delirium, violence, and emotional collapse. What links these two films together? The loss of control. Both are feverish, disorienting dives into the breakdown of social bonds, self-control, and the terrifying consequences of groupthink in high-stakes environments. Whether it's a deadly game of trust or a drug-fueled descent into chaos, Bodies Bodies Bodies and Climax show how quickly things can escalate when the mask of civility slips and the true horror of human nature emerges.

Run Time: 186 min. Rating: R

X + Pearl

Dates with showtimes for X + Pearl
  • Thu, May 15

Run Time: 208 min. Rating: R

Next up in our A24orror series is a familiar double feature to fans of The Frida Cinema--Ti West's X and its prequel Pearl!  In X, a group of filmmakers sets out to make an adult film in rural Texas, only to encounter the terrifying and unpredictable wrath of the elderly couple who own the property. What begins as a somewhat playful, low-budget production soon becomes a nightmarish struggle for survival, as the film takes on themes of aging, exploitation, and the dangerous allure of indulgence. Mia Goth, in a standout performance, brings an unsettling complexity to the film, playing both the innocent starlet and the crazed, murderous antagonist. X is equal parts slasher and grindhouse homage, but with a layer of social commentary about the exploitation of youth and beauty. Then, we jump into Pearl, a haunting prequel that digs deep into the backstory of Pearl, the character played by Mia Goth in X. Set in 1918, Pearl is a young woman with big dreams of becoming a star, but she’s trapped in a life of caregiving and oppressive isolation on her family’s farm. Her growing frustration and desire to break free from the constraints of her small, rural life drive her into darker, more violent territory. Pearl is an almost operatic exploration of ambition, madness, and the disillusionment that comes with chasing a dream at any cost. Goth’s performance is nothing short of mesmerizing, with the film blending campy horror with psychological depth in a way that’s both tragic and terrifying.

The penultimate event in our A24orror series is an off-kilter double feature of The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Talk to Me, two films that deep-dive into the psychological horror of guilt, manipulation, and the dark consequences of making dangerous choices.
