Our Francis Ford Coppola Retrospective continues with Apocalypse Now: Final Cut, the definitive edition of Coppola’s 1979 masterpiece.

During the Vietnam War, Army Captain Benjamin Willard (Martin Sheen) is tasked by his superiors with a top secret mission to assassinate Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando). Kurtz, an accomplished Green Beret, has undergone a psychotic breakdown and gone rogue, fighting his own war against the Viet Cong and their North Vietnamese allies on his own brutal terms. With Kurtz based in neutral Cambodia, Willard has to hitch a ride on a river patrol boat as it makes it way through the jungle and into the darkness lurking in every man’s soul.

With the story of its troubled production history almost as famous as the movie itself, Apocalypse Now is an anti-war epic whose harrowing story and stunning set pieces are best experienced on the big screen.
