Marvel at director Sean Wang’s coming of age drama Dìdi (弟弟), winner of both the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award and the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film tells the story of an impressionable 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy named Chris (played by Izaac Wang) during the last month of summer in 2008, just before he starts high school. As Chris navigates the awkwardness and excitement of adolescence, he learns essential life lessons that his family cannot teach him: how to skateboard, how to flirt, and the value of a young man’s relationship with his mother.

Featuring Joan Chen as Chris’s mother Chungsing, and bolstered by strong supporting performances by Shirley Chen and Zhang Li Hua, Dìdi was one of the most buzzed about new releases at Sundance, marking Sean Wang as a promising new voice in cinema, and has been praised for its heartfelt portrayal of adolescence, its humorous and touching narrative, and its effective exploration of cultural identity and family dynamics.
