Anime Expo Cinema Nights presents the classic anime Mobile Suit Gundam I, the first entry in the Gundam film series.

The story follows Amuro Ray, a young civilian who becomes the pilot of the powerful RX-78-2 Gundam after the space colony Side 7 is attacked by the Principality of Zeon. Thrust into the midst of a brutal conflict between the Earth Federation and Zeon, Amuro must navigate the horrors of war while discovering his own latent Newtype abilities.

Lauded for its realistic portrayal of warfare and complex characters, Mobile Suit Gundam I is credited with establishing the mecha genre as a serious form of science fiction.

This film will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
