Join us Thursday, August 1st for beloved 1993 Robin Williams comedy classic Mrs. Doubtfire, kicking off our Segerstrom Center for the Arts monthlong series!
Director Chris Columbus’ Oscar-winning classic stars Williams in his legendary performance as Daniel Hillard, a loving father whose childish eccentricities lead his wife, Miranda (Sally Field), to file for a divorce. Heartbroken to find his time with his children limited by the courts, Daniel hatches an elaborate plan to dress as an older British woman and convinces Miranda to hire him as a nanny. As Mrs. Doubtfire, Daniel is able to win over the children, as well as learn a few valuable lessons in parenting — but how long can he keep the ruse up the more he has to switch between his two personas? Delivering a steady stream of iconic lines and belly-laughs — as well as a surprising amount of heart — Mrs. Doubtfire emerged as the second-highest grossing film of 1993 behind only Jurassic Park, and has endured as one of the most beloved family films of all time, and a favorite among lovers of the great Robin Williams.
This special screening kicks off our Segerstrom at The Frida film series, every Thursday at 7:30PM in August, and presenting films that have been adapted into musicals/plays that will soon be taking the stage at Costa Mesa’s Segerstrom Center for the Arts!
