Fennessey Fest comes to an end with the often-maligned and very misunderstood cult classic Under the Silver Lake! Directed by David Robert Mitchell, this film is a mesmerizing blend of noir, mystery, and dark comedy that invites you into a labyrinthine journey through the surreal landscape of Los Angeles.

Follow Sam, played by Andrew Garfield, as he embarks on a quest to find a mysterious woman who vanishes without a trace. What begins as a simple infatuation spirals into a web of conspiracy, cryptic clues, and bizarre encounters with eccentric characters. Under the Silver Lake challenges viewers to unravel its layers, exploring themes of obsession, disconnection, and the hidden secrets of modern life.

Fennessey Fest is a week-long guest programming takeover from the mind of Sean Fennessey (Head of Content at The Ringer, Host of The Big Picture, and frequent guest on The Rewatchables). We gave him a prompt for four different films: One of his “all-timers” (The Long Goodbye), his favorite cult film (The Big Lebowski), a movie that he thinks needs a re-examination (Under The Silver Lake), and a movie he loved from his childhood (Who Framed Roger Rabbit). These four films (consciously or unconsciously) together yielded a very specific series theme: LA-set neo-noirs. Before each screening, there will be an exclusive introduction pre-recorded by Mr Fennessey, with the exception of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which will have an in-person introduction as well as a meet-and-greet after the screening!
