Chucky Fest: A Marathon Fundraiser for The Frida Cinema

The Frida Cinema's seating is first-come, first-serve. For our Midnight Screenings, please plan on arriving by 11:30pm to ensure ample time for parking, picking up concessions, and securing optimal seats. Screening will begin promptly at midnight.

On Saturday, November 16th, 75 brave Marathoners will be invited to join us at The Frida Cinema as big screen horror icon Chucky slashes his way through five of his very scariest films! Starting with the original Child’s Play (1988) all the way to The Seed Of Chucky (2004), complemented by a special panel discussion led by Santa Ana’s very own Councilwoman Jessie Lopez, it’s going to be 10 full hours of tyke-sized terror! So we ask you this one question…

Why are we inviting these intrepid souls to spend almost 12 hours at the Good Guy Factory? To help Orange County’s only nonprofit, independent art house cinema raise some much-needed funds! As you may know, the landscape for indie cinemas – and cinemas in general – is changing rapidly and often. We need your help to ensure The Frida Cinema continues to meet the voracious demands of our community’s avid cinephiles, from the films we present on our screens, to your experience as a patron in our lobby, and beyond.
Just to name a few of our organization’s current needs:
- Finally putting the finishing touches on our 35mm changeover projection system! The windows are installed, the projectors are upstairs — we’re almost there!!
- Updated concessions equipment — including a larger popcorn maker equipped to serve our rapidly growing audiences.
- Much-needed repairs and renovations in our restrooms, lobby, concessions area, and projection room.
- Enhancements to our stage lighting system.
- Upgrades to our box office equipment, to allow for faster customer service and a smoother experience in retrieving your tickets and concessions before the show.
- Electrical work in our outdoor foyer, so that our outdoor posters can once again shine bright when the sun goes down.
- and many other dreams and initiatives to ensure we can serve you as your favorite community art house cinema!

On our Chucky Fest fundraising page, you’ll see those valiant individuals who have signed on to be a fundraising Marathoner of this event! Each Marathoner has pledged to raise as much as they can in support of our organization, by calling on YOU to cheer them on as they take on 10+ hours of cinematic mayhem by donating to the cause! And here’s the fun part: your can either simply make a donation, or you can Sponsor a Perk for your selected participant! Perks include:
-Buying a marathoner a soda or coffee!
-Buying a marathoner a popcorn!
-Buying a marathoner a beer!
-Buying a marathoner a slice of pizza!
NOTE: These perks never expire! If a Marathoner receives 20 sponsored popcorns, they’ll receive 20 vouchers they can use either at the Marathon itself, or anytime they come back to enjoy a film at The Frida!
Plus we’ll be giving our Marathoners prizes for hitting specific goals, and random surprises along the way to encourage them to keep fundraising!
