How did you find out about The Frida Cinema?

I think someone posted it on their Instagram story, and I decided that me and my friend should do it for the summer since we weren’t going to be living together anymore.

What made you want to volunteer here?

I just thought it would be a silly, fun time. Like I said, my friend and I were roommates and then we weren’t going to be roommates anymore, but we wanted to still have obligated friend time, so volunteering sounded fun.

Tell us a little bit about Cry-Baby

I haven’t seen it in a while, but I used to watch it a lot. It’s a musical about star-crossed lovers in high school in the ’50s so it’s a good time, and it has Johnny Depp!

What were your other choices for Volunteer Pick of the Month?

They were The Fifth Element, Spice World, and I also put on Howl’s Moving Castle, but we are already doing a Studio Ghibli year. Oh, and Nacho Libre.

What is your favorite Frida memory?

Me and my friend were managing the line for the Twilight marathon, and it was just a good time. We had to hold the photo cutouts with the quotes, and we were around the photobooth, so we just got to be goofy and bring some people in to make them laugh a bit before they went to see the movie.

If you could program any movie here, what would you pick?

I’d have to say The Fifth Element; I really wanted to see it here.

Cry-Baby screens starting Wednesday, February 8th at The Frida Cinema.
