Our month-long celebration of the former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, would be immensely disappointing if it didn’t include his most iconic role as The Terminator. Watch James Cameron’s self-proclaimed directorial debut (don’t ask about Piranha II) on the big screen at The Frida Cinema!
Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) lives a quiet life in Los Angeles in 1984. She shares an apartment, works as a waitress, and seems to have no direction for what she wants out of life. Little does she know that she is being relentlessly pursued by two strange men. One of them, a ruthless cyborg assassin (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from the year 2020, is sent to kill Sarah’s unborn son—the future savior of humanity. The other, a human soldier (Michael Biehn), is sent back from the same year to save her.
Universally acclaimed at the time of its release, The Terminator helped launch the careers of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, as well as director James Cameron. In the 35 years since its release, it has spawned a franchise (which includes four sequels and a TV show) and has been listed as one of the best action thrillers of all time.
