We’re teaming up with the fine folks at Muzeo to present a very special screening of the legendary documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys! And make sure to stick around after the screening for a Q&A with our very special guests, Craig Stecyk and Jim Fitzpatrick!

This award-winning, thrilling story is about a group of discarded kids who revolutionized skateboarding and shaped the attitude and culture of modern day extreme sports. Featuring old skool skating footage, exclusive interviews and a blistering rock soundtrack, Dogtown and Z-Boys captures the rise of the Zephyr skateboarding team from Venice’s Dogtown, a tough “locals only” beach with a legacy of outlaw surfing.

Directed by former pro skater Stacy Peralta and narrated with gravelly cool by three-time Academy Award winner Sean Penn, this electrifying documentary that chronicles how a scrappy crew of skateboarding misfits revolutionized youth culture forever. Come see it on the big screen, loud and proud!

About our guests:

Craig Stecyk is a seminal multimedia artist, photographer, and writer who profoundly shaped surf, skate, and counterculture history. He is widely recognized as the primary chronicler and creative engine behind the Dogtown and Z-Boys movement. He co-founded legendary Zephyr Surfboard Productions Surf Shop in Santa Monica in 1972. He is the creator/designer of several foundational and underground art glyphs, including the Rat Bones logo, Vato Rat, Dogtown Cross and the phrase “Skate and Destroy”. He co-wrote and produced Dogtown and Z-Boys.
Jim Fitzpatrick is a pioneering skateboarder, industry advocate and icon in the world of skateboarding. He introduced skateboarding to Europe in 1964 and founded the International Association of Skateboard Companies in 1994, which successfully lobbied to change state liability laws and paved the way for thousands of public skateparks. The specific law he and the IASC helped pass was SB 994, which reclassified skateboarding to limit city and state liability in regard to the sport. He also served in key roles at Powell-Peralta and has written a number of books and for industry magazines, including Tony Hawk’s biography published in 2006.
