Feature Film: DAARU NA PEENDA HOVE

Director Rajiv Dhingra’s Daaru Na Peenda Hove – meaning “Don’t drink alcohol” in Punjabi – tells the hilarious and heartfelt tale of Gogga (Zafri Khan), a devoted yet insecure father, who sees his world shaken when Jagroop (Amrinder Gill), a charismatic and mysterious bachelor, moves in across the street. Meanwhile, Jagroop’s own carefree bachelor life is disrupted when he is thrust into the role of caregiver for a spirited young girl. This unexpected responsibility challenges his laid-back existence, cracking his seemingly flawless exterior and exposing hidden vulnerabilities he’d rather keep concealed.

Opening Film: KHALSA CENTRE – SIMRAN, SEVA, SANGAT

Khalsa Centre – Simran, Seva, Sangat is a documentary that delves into the vibrant Sikh community at British Columbia’s Khalsa Centre. The film captures the transformative experiences of a youth camp where participants engage in outdoor adventures intertwined with a filmmaking class led by Sikhlens. This unique blend offers insights into the principles of Simran (meditation), Seva (selfless service), and Sangat (community), highlighting their significance in Sikh culture.

All Sikhlens films not in the English language will be presented with English subtitles.
